Alfred Fleisch

Laureate 1953: Alfred Fleisch

“The prize was awarded for his monograph completed the previous year and published in 1954 under the title ‘New methods of studying gaseous exchange and pulmonary function’. The Fleisch method allowed precise measurement of breathing, blood circulation and metabolism. The prize was also awarded in recognition of Professor Fleisch’s scientific life’s work, in particular his research on nutritional problems in times of food shortage.”
