Marcel Benoist Lecture 2025

Marcel Benoist Lecture 2025

Psycholinguist Pascal Gygax, the 2024 Marcel Benoist laureate, gave a talk on 19 May 2025 on ‘Tout ce que vous avez toujours voulu savoir sur l’écriture inclusive sans oser le demander’ (Everything you always wanted to know about inclusive language but were afraid to ask).

The public lecture took place at the University of Fribourg and was part of the Marcel Benoist Lecture series, which aims to familiarise the public at large with the work of current Marcel Benoist prize laureates.

The talk attracted more than 300 attendees. Pascal Gygax presented his work, which explores how language influences our mental representations and contributes to stereotyping.

Mr Gygax’s clear presentation peppered with examples captivated the audience, showing how research in psycholinguistics and cognitive psychology can contribute to a more inclusive society. Attendees were able to meet the laureate after his presentation at an aperitif organised at the venue.
