How neuroscience can help to regenerate the brain and spinal cord following injury
Martin E. Schwab, neuroscientist at the University of Zurich, conducts research into cell biology and the molecular mechanisms of nerve fibre growth, in particular during the regeneration of damaged nerve fibres in the spinal cord and brain, and in relation to structural plasticity in the adult central nervous system. His research focuses on the temporary deactivation of the nerve-growth inhibiting Nogo protein using antibodies; the aim being to help paraplegics.
