Laureate 1976: Jean Lindenmann

“[…] for their exceptional work in the field of cellular immunology and the potential application of their findings to cancer and transplantation research.”

Die Gutachter reihten die Forschungen von L. unter die wichtigsten immunologischen Arbeiten dieses Jahrhunderts ein. Im Einzelnen wurden hervorgehoben die massgebliche Beteiligung an der Entdeckung des Interferons (virus-exklusiver Abwehrfaktor), die Entdeckung des F-Antigens, die Arbeiten über die virale Onkolyse, die Erkennung von Alloantigenen durch Lymphocyten sowie die Versuche, Viren zur Erzeugung einer Krebsimmunität auszunützen.
